About Soundsense

Soundsense is a specialist auditory processing clinic helping children and adults understand why listening feels more difficult than it should.

Many people we work with have normal hearing test results but still struggle to follow conversations, cope in noisy environments, remember verbal information, or keep up at school or work. They know something isn't right but often haven't found clear answers. Normal hearing evaluations do not test for auditory processing disorders.

Soundsense was created to bridge that gap through comprehensive auditory processing assessments and personalized support with auditory training. With appointments available in Auckland and via telehealth online across New Zealand, expert APD services are accessible wherever you are.

Meet the Founder

Founded by Dr Stacey Jensen, Audiologist

Dr Stacey Jensen is an audiologist with more than two decades of experience supporting children, teenagers and adults with hearing, listening, and communication challenges. She holds a Doctorate in Audiology and has spent much of her career helping people find answers when listening difficulties are affecting learning, relationships, confidence, and everyday life.

Stacey's passion for auditory processing disorder (APD) is both professional and personal. As the parent of a neurodiverse child with APD, she has experienced firsthand the challenges families can face when a child is struggling to listen, learn, and communicate effectively. She understands the uncertainty that often comes before a diagnosis, the effort involved in finding the right support, and the difference that understanding and practical strategies can make.

This combination of clinical expertise and lived experience allows Stacey to bring both professional knowledge and genuine empathy to every family she works with. She founded Soundsense to provide accessible, evidence-based auditory processing services that help people better understand their listening challenges and achieve meaningful improvements in everyday communication.
